Vanessa Moreno Cintra runs her farm, Fazenda Laje, with her mother Roselide Fátima. Having originally studied to become a lawyer and worked in Sao Paulo, Vanessa surprised many in her family when she decided to return to her home of Ibiraci and continue the family tradition of farming. Over the past three years, she has helped develop the coffee portion of the farm, adding many new varieties like Arara and Gesha, and focusing on higher quality processing. Currently, much of the farm lies unused, and her plan is to continue expanding the production of coffee. At present, the total production is around 4000 bags, with 500-800 bags of specialty quality.
